The rules of the board

1 Your account

You can play Chess-Stone locally, pass-and-play or against the bot, without an account. Playing online — ranked matches, friends, and rankings — requires signing in with an email and password, Sign in with Apple/Google, or as an anonymous guest.

• You're responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account.
• You must provide accurate information when creating an account (a guest account is, by design, the exception).
• One person, one account — don't create multiple accounts to manipulate rankings or matchmaking.

2 Fair play & conduct

Chess-Stone is a ranked, real-money-free game of skill. To keep it fair for everyone:

• Don't use chess engines, bots, or other assistance to determine your moves in online matches.
• Don't exploit bugs, race conditions, or the abandonment-claim feature in bad faith (for example, deliberately abandoning matches you're losing).
• Don't harass, impersonate, or abuse other players through display names, avatars, or any other in-app surface.
• Don't attempt to access another player's account or interfere with the service's normal operation.

We reserve the right to reset ratings, remove content, or suspend accounts that violate these rules.

3 Your content

You keep ownership of the display name and profile photo you upload. By setting them, you give us the license needed to store and show them to other players within the app — nowhere else. Don't upload a photo or choose a name you don't have the right to use, or that's abusive, misleading, or infringes someone else's rights.

4 Our content

The Chess-Stone name, logo, and the app's design, code, and artwork belong to us and are protected by applicable intellectual property law. These terms don't grant you any rights to them beyond using the app as intended.

5 Availability

We aim to keep Chess-Stone's online features available, but real-time multiplayer depends on third-party infrastructure (see our Privacy Policy for which ones) and network conditions outside our control. We don't guarantee uninterrupted access, and matches interrupted by connectivity issues are handled by the in-app resign and abandonment-claim features, not by any external compensation.

6 Suspension & termination

You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate the Fair Play & Conduct section above, or as required by law.

7 Disclaimer & liability

Chess-Stone is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we aren't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including loss of ratings, match data, or account access.

8 Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app evolves. We'll update the effective date above, and for significant changes, notify you in the app.
